Dean Van't Veen-Gibbon's career as a hair stylist over the past 30 years in salons in the United Kingdom, Australia and New Zealand has given him an impressive array of skills and credentials. An Australian trained Senior Hair Stylist, Dean has had the privilege of working for Australian celebrities as a stylist and colour technician on the Gold Coast. His theatrical work in wig design in Australia has also seen him attain the prestigious title Wigmaster. Dean has been the creative force behind Disney's Beauty and the Beast and the Royal Shakespeare Company's Mid Summers Night Dream. Dean has also worked in the United Kingdom as a sylist and a trained nail technicion for EZ flow nail. Continuing his training as a nail technician, Dean is also experienced with design acrylics. Now based in Auckland, Dean's passion for Hair and Nails has never been stronger, his vision for Tangled is premium quality stylist work that is affordable for all.
One of the hardest aspects of my wedding was finding the perfect hair stylist. It was the one thing that was really stressful for me as I had a hairstylist cancel on me as well. I wanted to feel beautiful and not just look beautiful.
I was lucky enough to be referred to the lovely Dean who made that happen for me. Nine out of ten times I have either walked out of a salon crying (because they had cut too much of my hair off which I had been growing for years), furious (because my highlights were ten shades yellower than the ash blonde I asked for in the first place) or rushing to grab the nearest comb so I can fix the hideous getup on my head. Hence my distrust in most hairdressers. However, after my trial with Dean I walked out of there feeling the happiest I have ever felt walking out of any salon. He is so talented and he managed to style my hair exactly how I wanted it.
Dean, thank you for making me feel and look fantastic on my wedding day. On the day you were so patient and kind and your calmness was contagious. Even when chaos struck the last half hour before my big walk down the aisle you managed to stay cool and collected and get the job done - perfectly I might add. You were a heaven sent and because of you I will forever cherish the experience. I will sing your praises to whoever will listen.
It's not often I have the confidence to go to a hairdresser with no preconceived ideas about what I want. I really trusted that I could leave all the decision making to Dean. He cut my hair beautifully, and in such a way that it was easy to maintain and recreate the look.
